An adviser to FIFA U-17 World Cup sensation Victor Osimhen has given a strong indication that the youngster is headed for Wolfsburg saying it is now “90 per cent certain” the 16-year-old will join the German club. Osimhen has sparked off multiple offers from Europe’s top clubs since his record-breaking 10 goals at the U-17 World Cup in Chile in November with his handlers narrowing their options to two — Wolfsburg and Arsenal.
Osimhen’s adviser, Liameed Gafaar, told Africanfootball.com that, “The first choice is now Wolfsburg because with his speed and techniques, the Bundesliga will best suit him. It will be a good start for him in Europe.
“The boy also loves what he has seen about Wolfsburg. So, it is safe to say it is now 90 per cent certain it will be Wolfsburg for Osimhen.”
The adviser, who is the owner of 36 Lion of Lagos, added the Osimhen camp, which has visited Germany on the invitation of Wolfsburg, has given their word to the Bundesliga club.
“We have a verbal agreement with Wolfsburg as regards Victor,” he added.
Meanwhile, ex-international Etim Esin has advised Osimhen to consider a move to Arsenal ahead of Wolfsburg.
Esin, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said Osimhen has a chance of developing better in England than in Germany.
“Wolfsburg is a good side and they have a good youth system for young players but if he signs for them, they could loan him out to some club where he won’t be well monitored,” he said.
“A move to Arsenal will allow him room to develop faster because English teams appreciate young players and help them develop better than other countries in Europe. If he joins Arsenal, he could be loaned to a top side in other countries or the lower leagues in England and he will be well monitored there.
“Kelechi Iheanacho and Taiwo Awoniyi are good examples of players who have joined English sides and are witnessing some good level of development.”
