Speaker hails calabar convention centre construction

Abuja - speaker of the house of representatives, alhaji tambuwal, has lauded the construction of an international conference centre in calabar saying such efforts would sustain cross river state as the country's preferred tourism destination.
"when you talk about tourism destination in nigeria, cross river state and calabar in particular is number one destination and being the number one destination, you are going to need not only the convention centre like we have here but the facilities like the hotels, the golf course, the estate and the community all around this convention centre," he said after inspecting some of the projects embarked by governor liyel imoke in calabar.
"i believe it is a well-conceived project and it is a very good idea and commend governor liyel imoke for this wonderful vision, i commend his tenacity in ensuring that this idea is translated into reality. I'm sure beyond the people of cross river, the nation will benefit from this all important project," added tambuwal.
The speaker promised to be among the first guests at the convention centre by bringing the house for a retreat at the facility when completed.
"the governor told me that the project will be completed by december. The deputy leader of the house is here and i can assure you that we will bring the entire house of representatives here not for a special session of the house but for a retreat"
